🎄 December Events and Holiday Celebrations

December brings the holiday spirit alive throughout Anaheim, and I’m excited to share the wonderful events happening across our community this month. Whether you’re a longtime resident or considering making Anaheim your home, these celebrations showcase the vibrant community character that makes our city so special.

The crown jewel of our holiday season is the 31st Annual Nutcracker Christmas Tree Lighting Festival on December 7th, transforming Downtown Anaheim’s Center Street Promenade into a winter wonderland from noon to 7 PM.¹ Families gather to watch the ceremonial lighting of a magnificent 50-foot Christmas tree at 6 PM, while children enjoy photos with Santa, snow play areas, and a candy cane costume contest throughout the day.²

West Anaheim kicks off celebrations early with its Christmas Tree Lighting at Twila Reid Park (3100 W. Orange Avenue) on December 5th from 5-8 PM, featuring holiday crafts, live music, and Santa photos.² Over in Anaheim Hills, the Holiday Spectacular at Anaheim Hills Festival Shopping Center (8020 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road) on December 13th from 11 AM-1 PM offers train rides, face painting, and festive crafts for families.³

For craft beer enthusiasts, the Villains Winter Market on December 18th from 5-9 PM at Villains Brewing Company (555 S. Anaheim Boulevard) combines local vendor shopping with holiday cheer and seasonal brews.³ The Downtown Anaheim Certified Farmers Market continues every Thursday from 11 AM-3 PM at Center Street Promenade, offering fresh seasonal produce and artisanal goods perfect for holiday entertaining.¹

🍽️ New Restaurants and Business Openings

Anaheim’s culinary scene continues to evolve with exciting new additions that reflect our city’s diverse character and growing sophistication. As someone who has watched this community flourish over the years, I’m thrilled to see these innovative businesses choosing Anaheim.

Story Restaurant has opened in Anaheim Hills at 8150 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road, offering New American cuisine with Filipino influences in an upscale-casual atmosphere. This is a wonderful addition to our eastern neighborhoods, bringing something truly unique to the local dining landscape.

Downtown, The Castle Mediterranean Restaurant is coming soon to 513 S. Brookhurst Street with a 110-seat dining room and patio hookah lounge, adding another dimension to our expanding restaurant corridor.⁴ The Anaheim Packing District welcomes Union Burger Society to the MAKE Building at 500 S. Anaheim Boulevard, joining the acclaimed lineup that already includes Unsung Brewing Company and Pali Wine Company.⁵

Nearby in Garden Grove, Thirsty Cow Korean BBQ has opened an impressive 8,000-square-foot premium all-you-can-eat concept at 5939 Chapman Avenue featuring USDA Prime and dry-aged beef.⁴ Popular chains are expanding their Anaheim footprint as well, with Dave’s Hot Chicken opening a second location at 216 N. Beach Boulevard in early 2026,⁴ and In-N-Out Burger announcing a new Anaheim location as part of their 2025 expansion.⁴

🏗️ Major Development Projects

The transformation happening in Anaheim right now is nothing short of remarkable, and I believe we’re witnessing the creation of one of Southern California’s most dynamic urban centers. These developments represent billions in investment and thousands of new jobs for our community.

The $4 billion ocV!BE entertainment district represents the most transformative development in Anaheim’s modern history.⁶ Rising around Honda Center in the Platinum Triangle, this 100-acre master-planned project will create the new heart of Orange County with a 5,700-capacity concert hall, a 50,000-square-foot food hall called The Weave, 28-plus restaurants, two hotels with 650 rooms combined, and over 2,500 residential units, including 195 affordable housing units.⁶

Phase 1 opens in late 2026, with full completion targeted for the 2028 Summer Olympics, when Honda Center will host volleyball. This isn’t just another development; it’s a complete reimagining of what urban living can be in Orange County.

DisneylandForward continues reshaping the Resort area following City Council approval in May 2024.⁷ This $1.9 billion expansion over ten years will redevelop 57 acres for new experiences including an Avatar land at Disney California Adventure, a new Coco attraction, and two additional Avengers Campus rides.⁷ The project includes $85 million for traffic improvements, $30 million for affordable housing, and will create approximately 13,500 construction and permanent jobs.

📊 December 2025 Real Estate Market Update

The Anaheim housing market shows signs of stabilization after years of strong appreciation, creating opportunities for both buyers and sellers who understand the current dynamics. As your local real estate expert, I’m here to help you navigate these conditions with confidence.

As of October 2025, the median home price in Anaheim sits at approximately $935,000, representing a slight year-over-year decrease of 1.1%.⁸ The price per square foot averages $586, with homes spending an average of 50 days on market, notably longer than the 31-day average from the previous year.⁸ Current inventory shows approximately 487 homes actively listed across the city.⁸

The market maintains a Redfin Compete Score of 67 out of 100, classified as somewhat competitive with homes typically receiving 3-4 offers.⁸ About 46.5% of properties still sell above asking price, though this represents a cooling from peak market conditions.⁸

Neighborhood variations are significant. Anaheim Hills commands premium pricing with a median of $1.1-1.2 million and a stronger appreciation of positive 3.4% year-over-year.⁸ The Platinum Triangle shows median values around $835,000-865,000 for condos, benefiting from the ocV!BE development momentum. For renters, median monthly rent across Anaheim ranges from $2,313 to $2,720, with modest year-over-year increases of 1-2%.⁸

🌤️ December Weather Guide

December brings Anaheim’s coolest weather of the year, though it’s still relatively warm compared to most of the country. This is one of the many reasons I love living and working in Orange County.

Expect average highs of 65-68°F and lows of 45-48°F, with approximately seven hours of daily sunshine.⁹ The month sees around 5 rainy days with total precipitation of 2.5-2.7 inches, one of our wetter months, though still quite manageable.⁹

Pack light layers for December activities: sweaters and light jackets for cooler evenings, and a light rain jacket for occasional showers. The mild temperatures make outdoor holiday events comfortable, and UV protection remains advisable during sunny daytime hours.⁹ Wind speeds average 11 mph, making December our windiest month.

🛍️ Shopping Destinations

Anaheim GardenWalk (400 W. Disney Way) offers 430,000 square feet of outdoor shopping steps from Disneyland and the Convention Center.¹¹ December highlights include the Taste of Japan Festival from December 19-21, featuring 100-plus Japanese vendors, anime culture, traditional drummers, and cosplay.¹¹ Stores include Harley-Davidson, Pandora, and Miniso alongside restaurants like House of Blues and The Cheesecake Factory.

Downtown Disney District (1580 Disneyland Drive) welcomes visitors daily from 7 AM to midnight with free admission and no park ticket required. The World of Disney store, LEGO Store, and Star Wars Trading Post anchor the shopping, with Din Tai Fung and Porto’s Bakery coming soon. Validated parking is free for up to 5 hours.

Downtown Anaheim along Center Street Promenade features boutique shopping, California-style cafes, and unique finds, including RARE by Goodwill for vintage treasures, Eco Now for zero-waste products, and Ebisu Anaheim at Anaheim Plaza for Japanese lifestyle goods and anime merchandise.

🎭 Arts, Culture, and Entertainment

MUZEO Museum and Cultural Center (241 S. City National Grove of Anaheim (2200 E. Katella Avenue) hosts diverse performances in its 1,700-capacity venue. 🏛️ Anaheim History and Fun Facts

Founded in 1857 by 50 German-American families from San Francisco, Anaheim’s name combines Ana from the Santa Ana River with heim, German for home, literally meaning Home by the Santa Ana River.¹⁵ Spanish-speaking neighbors called the settlement Campo Alemán, or German Field.¹⁵

For 25 years, Anaheim was California’s largest wine producer until grape disease destroyed 2 million vines in the 1880s.¹⁵ The community pivoted to citrus, becoming an orange-growing capital until Disneyland’s arrival transformed everything. When Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955, Anaheim’s population was under 15,000. Today it exceeds 346,824 residents, making it Orange County’s most populous city.¹⁵

The city claims remarkable sports history as home to the Los Angeles Angels and Anaheim Ducks, and formerly the LA Rams from 1980-1994. Today, over 25 million tourists visit annually, drawn by world-class attractions and genuine community character.¹⁵

🏠 December Selling Tips

Selling during the holiday season requires strategic positioning, but December can actually be an excellent time to list your Anaheim home. Buyers who are house-hunting in December are typically serious and motivated, often needing to relocate for work or personal reasons.

Create an Inviting Holiday Ambiance: Tasteful holiday decorations make your home feel warm and welcoming without overwhelming potential buyers. Think white lights, simple wreaths, and neutral seasonal touches that appeal to all buyers.

Maximize Natural Light: With shorter days in December, ensure all window treatments are open during showings and consider adding extra lighting to showcase your home’s best features during the earlier sunsets.

Price Strategically: With the current market showing median prices at $935,000 and homes taking an average of 50 days to sell, competitive pricing from day one is essential. I provide comprehensive market analyses to position your home perfectly.

Highlight Winter Comfort Features: Showcase fireplaces, updated HVAC systems, and cozy indoor spaces that appeal to buyers imagining themselves in the home during the cooler months.

Maintain Flexibility for Showings: With holiday schedules, offering flexible showing times, including evenings and weekends, can capture serious buyers when they have time to view properties.
