January 2026 brings exciting events to Orange and the surrounding area. The Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market continues every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM.1

Nearby, Disneyland’s Lunar New Year celebration runs from January 23 through February 22, 2026. The 31-day festival welcomes the Year of the Horse with food and cultural entertainment.2

A new paid parking system is launching in early 2026 around the Orange Plaza. Eighteen payment kiosks have been installed within two blocks of the traffic circle.4
Parking fees will range from $1.25 to $2 per hour between 9 AM and 6 PM. Payment can be made through an app or text-to-pay.
The Lemon Street parking structure at 130 N. Lemon Street will remain free. The program is projected to generate $900,000 in its first year.

Orange’s housing market enters 2026 with vigorous activity. According to Redfin data, home prices were up 2.9% year over year.5
The median sale price is $1.1 million. Homes sell after an average of 43 days on the market.

Chapman University’s 2026 Economic Forecast projects 2% real GDP growth nationally. This is up from 1.8% in 2025.8
Record spending on AI infrastructure and household wealth gains are driving growth. However, Orange County faces challenges with a limited job growth forecast for 2026.
The education and health sector is the bright spot, expected to grow 3.8%. This bodes well for Orange, given that Chapman University and UC Irvine Medical Center are nearby.
Housing affordability may improve as mortgage rates are projected to dip below 6%. This could spark recovery in home sales throughout Orange County.

The City of Orange continues to address budget challenges as it heads into 2026. The Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget reflects a commitment to essential services.9

The City Council is considering additional safety measures for the Old Towne traffic circle. Since 2018, at least 44 vehicles have crashed into Plaza Square Park.

Park hours in January are 6 AM to 6 PM daily. Parking fees are $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends.

The Orange Unified School District serves approximately 26,000 PreK-12th grade students. The district spans Orange, Villa Park, and portions of surrounding cities.11

The district is exploring school consolidation proposals due to enrollment declines. Four campus pairings are under consideration.
