Wondering what to do with your tree now that Christmas has come and gone? The City of Yorba Linda wants to help you recycle them and limit holiday waste. Real Christmas trees will be accepted at the curb by Republic Services from Monday, December 28, 2020, through Friday, January 8, 2021.
Residents should make sure to take off all of the lights, ornaments, tinsel and garlands, as well as remove the metal or plastic stand from the bottom of the tree before placing the bare tree at the curb. If your tree is more than six feet tall, the city asks that you cut it in half for safe and easy collection.
Wondering what to do if you don’t take your tree down before January 8, 2021? Residents who don’t take their tree down until the second week of the new year or later are asked to cut the tree into pieces so that it will fit into your yard waste cart with the lid closed.
Additionally, if you have any holiday wreaths and greenery, those can also be placed in your yard waste cart. The wreaths and greenery should also be bare and free of any wire, hooks, bows or other decorations. Collected trees and greenery are turned into mulch, compost and ground cover.
